If you are interested in adopting a Pupster, please review the links below. |
Many of the babies that arrive into our care are not house trained nor leash trained. Our main goal when they arrive is to let them know that they are loved and safe. We first address their veterinarian needs and then we meet their emotional needs. We spend endless hours holding them close to us, teaching them what belly rubs and kisses are all about, letting them know that each is very special to us. They are never scolded for having potty accidents in the house, this is the least of our concerns. When we know that they feel safe we then begin to gently work on house breaking and leash training issues. Many of our babies leave our care not fully house and leash trained, but they leave us packed full of love and trust and that is Our Goal! |
We all know that there are different areas that we can help within rescues. Some individuals open their homes to the dogs for fostering, others aid in transports, vet visits and grooming appointments. We realize that many of our lives become very busy and there is just not enough time in the day.
A wonderful way for those of you that maintain a lifestyle that prohibits you from physically helping these sweet kids is through sponsorship.Your name and location will be noted under the pupster you have chosen to sponsor. You will be kept updated on a monthly basis as to how your “Favorite Baby” is progressing.

I am a beautiful 5 yr old Shih Tzu girl. I am brindle and white and weigh 12 lbs. I was born on December 20, 2006. I came into rescue because my owner was too ill to care for me. I am a bit shy when I first meet you, but once I get to know you I demand my share of your attention. I am packed full of energy and can keep up with the best of the pupsters. I am a bit mischievous at times...curiosity just gets the best of me. I enjoy toys, soft beds, but most of all cuddles and kisses. I would love a home where Mom/Dad can be home with me most of the time. A fenced in yard to romp and play in is a must and no small children please. To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. Mom alternates between turkey, beef and chicken raw diets. Please read about my special diet. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet. I am working on house training and do well during grooming. The tooth fairy visited me in May 2009 when I had my dental and I have 35 teeth left. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. |

I am a beautiful 12 yr old, black and white, 13 lb Shih Tzu girl. My prior owners had young children and I was not comfortable with them so here I am with all of the other PATR pupsters. I am a very loving little girl. I like to be wherever Mom is at. I enjoy sleeping right next to her on her pillow, I cuddle up close to her whenever she is working on the computer. I love all of the soft toys and enjoy tossing them in the air and catching them. I am a little uneasy around the other pupsters for I had not been pupster socialized before I arrived. Mom says I suffer from this thing called "Separation Anxiety" and we are working on that. I have a terrible fear if Mom or Dad are not where I can see them and touch them. I will need a home where Mom and Dad are home with me all of the time. I also would love a fenced in area to romp and play in. I prefer no children please. Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. I am a very sweet 5 year old liver and white Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 11 lbs and was born on June 15, 2006. I am a puppy mill survivor. I had been living in horrendous conditions when authorities came in and removed me from the puppy miller. I was rail thin, suffering from anemia and due to have puppies at any time. PATR took me in and helped me. I had six puppies, but only two survived. My four babies died due to lack of proper nutrition and liver shunt. Mom and Dad knew how difficult it was for me to say goodbye to my babies, but they told me their main goal was to help me become healthy and emotionally whole. Well, it took awhile for me to trust anyone, but today I am a well adjusted, happy, loving little girl. I still am a bit leary of strangers, but Mom and Dad said someday that feeling will pass. I love to play with my foster sisters and brothers, toys are the best and snuggling in close with Mom and Dad is my favorite past time. I am also an excellent watch dog and sound the alarm if anyone knocks on the door or drives in the driveway. I am so looking forward to my special home where I will be loved forever. A fenced in yard to romp and play in is a must and no small children please. . To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. I am a very sweet 13 yr old black and silver Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 11 lbs and was born on February 27, 1999. I have made a lot of puppies in the past, but am now looking for my very own special home. I get along wonderfully with all of the other pupsters and enjoy snuggling close to them during naptime. I am a very shy little girl and Mom and Dad have to coax me to come to them. I have been observing all of the other pupsters here and know that before long I will be leaping into Mom and Dad's arms just like they do. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7 and a fenced in yard is a must. I would prefer no small children. I am a beautiful blonde and white Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 8 lbs and am 1 yr old. I was turned over to PATR due to sight issues. After evaluation by a specialist it was determined that I am blind and there is no treatment which will correct my vision. I am a sweet little girl and love to play with my toys. I am very fearful of strangers and if placed in an area other than I am familiar with I will panic. I am contented in my area in the living room with my own bed and toys. I also love to be in the play area outside which I am familiar with. Disruption in my daily routine upsets me. Once in Mom's arms I settle in for lots of loving. I need a very special home where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7. I cannot be placed in boarding facilities for this would be strange for me and very stressful. I need a quiet household and another pupster would be great. I am hoping there is someone out here who can fulfill my needs and wants for I have so much love to give. To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am a beautiful 9 yr old gold and white Shih Tzu girl. I was born on November 16, 2001 and weigh 11 lbs. I am a retired breeder and am enjoying life here with all of the other pupsters. When I first arrived I was a bit shy, but now I am very outgoing and love to be held and cuddled by everyone. I am packed full of energy and am on the go most of the day. I enjoy all of the soft beds and the toys are great. I have tried to establish myself as the "boss", but Mom won over me. I would prefer to be an only dog because I am an alpha girl. I can also be very verbal so will need a home where barking will not be an issue. I would enjoy having Mom/Dad home with me 24/7 and a fenced in yard is a must. Because I am a senior my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. My favorite place to sleep is with Mom and Dad and I cuddle them close every chance I get. I am a beautiful 12 lb, 6 yr old black and white Shih Tzu girl. I was born on December 22, 2005. Due to health reasons my owner released me into the care of PATR. I am a loving little girl who loves lots and lots of kisses and cuddles. I do fairly well with the other pupsters, but can be a bit alpha. I enjoy cuddling close to Mom and Dad at night. I would love a Mom and Dad that could lavish me with love. I would be fine being the one and only or have a sister or brother that is non alpha. I prefer no children and a fenced in yard is a must. I am a very cute 6 yr old brindle and white Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 11 lbs and was born on July 5, 2005. My owner sent me to join the PATR pupsters because she was not home with me enough. I am a sweet little girl once I get to know you. I am very nervous around strangers and will nip if someone reaches for me too quickly. I love the other pupsters here and can keep up with the best of them during playtime. Toys are the greatest, naps are enjoyed thoroughly on a nice soft bed and running and playing outside is way too much fun. I enjoy being in Mom and Dad's arms, but there are times where I prefer to be by myself and just contemplate what is going on around me. I am very fearful when I see the vet so care has to be taken. I would love a home with a fenced in yard where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7. I prefer no children please. I am working on house training and leash training and do well during grooming. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. |

I am a very sweet 11 yr old, 10 lb Blonde & White Shih Tzu girl. I was dumped at a shelter by my owners. I was so frightened and did not know what was going to happen to me. Thank goodness for Rescue Angels! I am a very sweet, quiet little girl. I get along fine with the other pupsters, but would rather observe than take part in their romping and playing. I prefer to sit in Mom and Dad's lap and be cuddled. I would love a home where I can have all of the laptime my heart desires and hopefully Mom/Dad can be home with me 24/7. I have so much love to share and so hope I find my special home soon. Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. I am 8 yrs old, weigh 12 lbs and am a beautiful white and cream Shih Tzu girl. I was born on January 26, 2004. My prior owners had me for a short time and realized that I had issues that they felt they could not work through so I came to PATR to go through the Pupster Rehabilitation Program. I have so much love to give and at times am very, very loving. But, I really am not sure of myself and have a lot of fears. Mom and Dad are working with me on this. I can be dog and people aggressive. I also suffer from separation anxiety...I need to have Mom or Dad in my sight at all times. I know there is a wonderful home out here for me where Mom/Dad will continue working with me on my problems. I would love a fenced in yard and cannot be placed with children. I am working on my house training and do well during grooming. The tooth fairy visited me in December 2008 when I had my dental and I have 32 teeth left. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. |

I am a very pretty 8 yr old black and white Shih Tzu girl and weigh 12 lbs. My prior owners were very abusive. They thought nothing of kicking and hitting me with their fists. Thank goodness this wonderful lady from the humane society stepped in, saved me and asked PATR to welcome me into their loving environment. I had a very large kidney stone removed and am on a raw diet and supplements which will need to be continued when I am adopted with frequent checkups from the vet. I am a very needy little girl who wants as much laptime as possible. The other pupsters are OK, but I just sit back and watch them play. I would prefer to be the one and only. I love my Mom, but am more drawn to my Dad. I enjoy walks, car rides and going whereever Mom and Dad go. After all I have been through, it would be wonderful to find a nice quiet home with no small children, no other pets and a Mom/Dad that could be home with me 24/7. I am house trained and do well during grooming. The tooth fairy visited me in January 2009 when I had my dental and I have 36 teeth left. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. We appreciate Suzi Brodsack of Iowa for lovingly sponsoring Mei-Ling. |

I am a beautiful, 13 lb, 11 yr old red and white Shih Tzu girl. I was born on November 5, 1999. My owner moved into an apartment and couldn't take me with her so I went to live with my aunt. They were good to me, but couldn't keep me any longer and were considering euthanization. I am a very loving little girl once I am comfortable with you. I get along well with all of the other pusters and am enjoying the plush beds and plentiful toys. I do not like anyone I do not know and will growl, bark and threaten to bite. Mom, Dad and I are working on this trying to figure out why I feel so threatened by strangers. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me 24/7 so that I can have lots of lovin' and laptime. Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet. I am house trained, leash trained and do fairly well during grooming. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. |

I am a very sweet 13 yr old black Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 11 lbs. I was part of a puppy mill bust where I lived in cages stacked one on top of the other. I was matted to the skin and my teeth, tonsils and throat were infected. I was very shy when I arrived, but I now know that I am safe and loved. I enjoy being held and cuddled. I am still not too sure about toys, but the other pupsters sure enjoy them. Mom tells me that will come with time. Right now my main goal is to take advantage of all the love that surrounds me for the rest of my life. My right eye is gradually shrinking due to a prior injury. The puppy miller also debarked me so I cannot enjoy barking at a bird or sounding an alarm for Mom and Dad when I think a stranger has entered the house. I am looking forward to my Forever Home where Mom/Dad will make up for the love that I never had. No children please and a fenced in yard would be really nice so that I can lounge in the sun and enjoy what I have missed out on in my life. I am working on house training and do well during grooming. The tooth fairy visited me in February 2011 when I had my dental. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. My last bloodwork was done on 8-13-09. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300. We appreciate Christina Hess of Indiana, for lovingly sponsoring Ramona. |

I am a 6 yr old gold and black Shih Tzu girl and weigh 10 lbs. I was dumped at the shelter matted to the skin. I am a sweet little girl although a bit alpha. I have a lot of fun playing with all of the other pupsters. I love it outside and can keep up with the best of the pupsters. I enjoy being held and loved and give soft sweet Shih Tzu kisses. I would love a home with another non alpha pupster to play with, but would also be contented being the one and only. A fenced yard to run and romp in is a must and having Mom/Dad home with me most of the time would be wonderful. No children please. To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. I am a very sweet 8 yr old, 9 lb black and white Shih Tzu girl. I was born on January 2, 2004. I was turned over to PATR because my Mom could no longer afford to care for me. I am a very playful, loving little girl. I enjoy kisses and cuddles and laptime is the greatest. I get along well with all of the other pupsters and can do the Shih Tzu blitz with the best of them. I love sleeping close to Mom and Dad at night and bestowing them with my special kisses. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me most of the time. I will need a fenced in area and no small children please. Because my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now.
