Manny's
Forever Home
Update

He worked his way out of the halter in no time so rode in my lap the entire way home; pretty chill about that. Lol So far, no evidence of attempting to mark. His vet appt is the 16th. He introduced himself to the cats, each of which is bigger than he is, and Evelyn is taking the new kid in stride. She was also flabbergasted as he ate his supper like it was his last meal. Manny likes his new back yard and has christened it fully. He follows quick on both our heels. Lots of kisses, too. Jan, this might actually work out. Lol!

Hi Jan,
Manny slept in his bed on the floor in our room til 8 a.m. today. Wow. The neighbors and family are shocked by how tiny he is. Our daughter walked over this morning and quite literally commandeered him for her lap instead of mine. The alpha Manny showed up when Evelyn tried to get up there, too. I started him and Evelyn on training with the bell, the word potty, and opening the door to the garage and back yard. So far, he hasn't tried to mark today either. Going shopping for some very tiny sweaters and smaller halter so he can take his rightful place in the car seat. I'm hoping he does well with that.

Jan, this little guy is pretty awesome. Thanks for rescuing him so we could find him. He is just a funny little joy of a dog! He's loving meeting all the new people, too.

Also notice no belly band at home now. He's so much smaller than our Addie, the calico cat, she looks down on him (maybe with disdain?) I'll try to get that pic for you later. Have a good weekend!

Jan,
He's settled in here really well. Played with the other dogs during family get togethers. He's fearless, no idea really how small he is. But it's easy to give 'em hell from his perch on the couch. His vet and her tech simply couldn't turn loose of him at his first visit. lol He and Evelyn are beginning to play. I run, he runs right along chasing me. He loves squeeker toys, too. Got him two little ones he can carry easily from room to room. He really hated the cold and snow, but out he went to do his business along with Evelyn anyway. He wears sweaters most days, and we keep an area near the back door cleared for him. We're training to disposable pads and outdoors so it's easier on the overnights in hotels and for when the snow and cold are just too much. That's going well so far. He's a joy to have around. So glad we connected with you.
Happy New Year!

Good Morning Jan!
Manny and I are just checking in, and we certainly hope all is well with you and all the pups. Of course, there’s about 7 inches of snow again in Manny’s back yard (and still coming down heavily), but earlier this week when the grass revealed itself, he just couldn’t get enuf of running around out there. Really loves being outside, especially when Evelyn is with him. His fur has fully grown in and insulates him pretty well though he really hates getting his feet cold or wet. He has a supply of sweaters for winter wear. When things get a bit hairy out there, he uses his potty pad. Marking isn’t a problem for him, at least not here at home. The only time he gets a bit mean is when he’s in his bed and another animal approaches him there. He has a small selection of soft toys, and his favorite “baby” he carries from room to room with him. So darn cute. He eats like a trooper – usually turkey and some vegetables. LOVES THE SOFT TREATS we break up for him. Doesn’t mind car rides at all. (“Baby” comes along too, of course.) Haven’t done much with leash training yet, although yesterday, we took a short trip to shop in Lansing. They needed a potty break so out on the leash he went, and he did better than the first time. All in all, Manny’s doing beautifully, and we love him so much. When family comes to visit they always reach down to pick him up and everybody gets a lot of kisses.
Hugs,
Sansi, Mike Evelyn, and Manny
