Peke A Tzu Rescue
Foster Journal

We thought all of you out there would like to see what happens here in our home so we decided we would pop in on occasion and let you know what we are doing. Some days it is just the same old routine, but other times we have a lot of excitement. We hope you enjoy hearing about our activities and seeing a few pictures. The majority of the time you will see us happy, healthy and well groomed, but there is a significant cost involved to get each of us to this point which can be viewed at Foster Vetting Costs.

All of us pupsters would like to wish our Dad the bestest birthday ever! There is not a better Dad anywhere in the world. Do you know that he picks up our poop, if we have an accident in the house he just quietly cleans it up, he makes sure we always have fresh water, he sneaks us treats, he gives the best hugs and kisses ever and when we are in his lap we feel like we are in heaven. We feel so blessed to have him as our very own Daddy. Spud drew the shortest straw so he is the privileged pupster on our Dad’s Birthday Card. Dad doesn’t care for cake….darn, but he did share some yummy carrots with us for his birthday. We thought the best birthday present we could give him was to triple our kisses on this very special day so needless to say Dad had to have a towel at hand all day long!

December 2, 2007
Well, would you look it here! Ritzy could win the “Miss Princess” of the year award. Actually, you should see her put on the act for Dad…she whines..she cries..she wags her tail and body and gets anything she wants. She has Dad wrapped right around her little paws. He takes her in the bedroom while he is watching TV or working on the computer and lets her have her own special pillow and she perches on the bed like she owns the world. Guess we had best start watching her closely..maybe if we imitate her behavior we’ll have the same privileges. Bet she won’t think she is so cool when she has to share her special pillow!

Harvey here staying toasty warm in my cubicle. Geez, I think I need to move South! First we had snow, then we had freezing rain, then we had rain and then we had snow again. What a mess! This boy isn’t going anywhere near it. I have been sneaking behind the futon to do my potty chores so of course I got in trouble for that. But, hey, it is worth it for I am not putting my paws anywhere near that cold ground! My residence has now changed. Should anyone want to contact me just write to Harvey….111 Cubicle, Pupstertown, USA. When you write please throw a little sunshine and warmth in the envelope.

Bridget here reporting in for the first time and cuddling close to my very most favorite person, Dad. Even though Dad has been so sick and Mom has been taking care of him, they did not turn their back on me for I was so in need. I was found as a stray and these nice ladies took me to an Emergency Clinic. The clinic tried contacting some rescues with no luck, but they had Auntie Helen’s number on hand and she directed them to Mom and Dad. They were there in a flash to help me. I had to have my eye removed immediately. Mom and Dad are taking such good care of me and I love both of them dearly…didn’t take long. I would like all of you to keep Dad in your thoughts for he returns to the hospital tomorrow to once again undergo chemo treatments for leukemia. He and Mom opened their hearts and their home to me when I was in need, so I ask all of you to please keep Dad in your prayers…he is very, very special.

You would think with all of the plush beds, pillows and blankets around here that Willow would choose to cuddle close to all of us. But no, not her…always has to be different you know. Have you ever seen a dog sleep on a window sill? Well, welcome to Willow’s world. She is one strange pupster. We keep telling Mom and Dad that she needs to go through a pupster psychological evaluation program for we really think she has some screws loose somewhere.

December 6, 2007
Brittany here, COUGH, CHOKE, trying to get Mom’s attention, but I can hardly talk. Now I know we are supposed to share and cuddle, but Mom needs to talk to Olivia about the proper techniques involved in this. Throwing your body across another pupster just does not get it. All I know is she is snoring loudly, totally comfortable and I am definitely not getting any rest. I don’t want to hurt her feelings for she is such a good pupster friend. Hopefully Mom can gently move her and then explain to her proper snuggling techniques.

December 7, 2007
Well, here we go again. Twila and her step sister Prancie still have no idea what these beds are specifically made for. We know Twila is the culprit in this whole roof sleeping thing. She seems to lead other pupsters astray. It is time for her Mom to take her aside and have a long talk with her. These beds were made to crawl inside of…you know protect you from all of the outside elements in a way. Guess we may have to make a trip to visit Twila so that we can demonstrate proper house bed usage.

December 8, 2007
Geez, Keegan would you let us in there to see what Dad brought home from Meijers please? You are just too nosy. Dad did not sit this bag down for you to crawl into. Hey, if there are any edibles in there you had best share with the rest of us. Of course if you get caught by Dad we know nothing about this whole situation and you are totally on your own. He will see the halos hanging over our head as we watch you being taken away for a lengthy time out.

December 9, 2007
We have the answer to Dad’s question Mom. You know how he is always saying it is way too cold in here and accusing you of messing with the thermostat(He said something about hot flashes as he was mumbling)? Well, now we know the real story! Here is Toto blocking the heating vent and selfishly hoarding all of the heat for himself. He has called a meeting to gather certain pupsters who may be receptive to his plot to block all vents. We just wanted to give you a heads up so you can prepare your defense.

December 10, 2007
Is it really true Mom? We are both going to different homes? Well, we were kind of hoping we could stay together, but you told us that we will each love our homes and will be meeting new sisters and brothers that we can romp and play with. Sorry about our ears being down, but we are just trying to take all of this in you know. We have both promised each other we will call and email often. Actually the more Asti and Leana think about it this could really be an adventure. We can share pictures of our new sisters and brothers with each other and our daily adventures.

December 11, 2007
Hey, heads up everyone! New pupster has arrived. Time for everyone to welcome her. Mom told us Mirila is a Havanese. We have no idea what that is, but she sure smells good and we think she will be a great addition to our pupster family. Any pupster that can withstand our initial curiosity and check over with kisses moves right up to the top of our snuggling list. We can’t wait to really get to know Mirila and teach her how to wrap Mom and Dad right around her little paws.

December 12, 2007
We pupsters cannot figure out what Arpel’s problem is. If anyone leaves the house, rather Mom or Dad she just comes undone. She will stand in front of this window and cry until she sees the van coming back down the driveway. Now mind you, we are never left alone. Either Mom or Dad are here with us 24/7. Mom says she suffers from separation anxiety, but you would think if either is here with us this would not be a problem. We are guessing that she just needs both of them at all times. We pupsters keep telling her that all will be well. We know that someday she will feel secure in knowing that all of us will always be here for her.

December 13, 2007
Haley has been strutting around here today because she won the draw of the straws for Auntie Kakki’s 29th birthday.
Auntie Kakki we were mixing up the batter for your cake and it accidentally fell on the floor…have no idea how soooo you have to know we had to mix up another one. We were just getting ready to put the second one in the oven and low and behold it fell on the floor again. Clean up was a breeze both times if you know what we mean. Well, we were finally successful, but a couple hours after we had taken the cake out of the oven…yep, you guessed it fell on the floor again. So we have no more cake mixes left to bake another cake….BURP (Excuse us).
We hope someone there bakes a cake for you that are less accident prone than we are. We wish you the bestest birthday ever!
Love,
The PATR Pupster Crew

Boy, things are always exciting around here. Mom and Dad got a call from this lady and there were eight Old English Sheep Dogs in need…Mom, Dad and six puppies. We had a pupster family meeting and decided that we would do all we could to help. We jumped on the internet and searched and searched to find a rescue we were comfortable with. We would have loved to have welcomed them into our home, but whew….these pupsters are big even when they are puppies. We found this wonderful lady…we call her Grannie Annie, who helped with all of the babies. Dad was on call and transported Mom and Dad to volunteers here in Michigan. Then he met Unkie Mark(he doesn’t know we adopted him yet) who flew into Grand Rapids and picked up all of our new puppy friends and drove all the way back to Connecticut with his precious cargo. All are safe and sound thanks to Grannie Annie and the volunteers with New England Old English Sheep Dog Rescue. Grannie Annie called the puppies “the 6 pack” so all were given the name of a soda. Santa Claus was more than willing to hold each in his arms and sip a bit of soda that was dedicated to each.
PS: Somehow Santa surely reminds us of Unkie Mark.

December 15, 2007
Well, Cassidy, sometimes Mother Nature just does not cooperate. Here we are all ready to meet our new sister Asti and the snow hits us in the butt (notice we didn’t use Mom or Dad’s expression) and we had to postpone our meeting. Actually, Tinky, here was really getting revved up to meet my new little sister for I wanted to let her know immediately who the real “boss” in the family is. And I was so looking forward to seeing Auntie Jan and Unkie Bruce to again thank them for finding both of us such a wonderful home. Of course I know you are all soft and mushy and would just share everything that you have with Asti immediately. Well, guess we’d best get out of these warm sweaters for now and make new travel arrangements.

December 16, 2007
Wow, we went to bed last night and things were pretty normal for this time of year and woke up this morning with a whole bunch of white stuff! Mom was mumbling under her breath as she shoveled out the deck and ramp area and Dad, being the laid back kind of person he is…made his coffee and said, “Wow, sure is a mess out there.” We, on the other hand were having a ball racing through the snow and making little yellow marks everywhere we went. We asked Mom if she could possibly shovel some of the snow into a container to send to some of our southern friends so they would realize what they were missing out on…her eyes crossed big time so we knew right away that this was not one of our better suggestions.

December 17, 2007
OK Morgan, Teddee here will keep a look out for Mom. You just figure out how the heck we can get into these potato chips. Now, you know we are probably going to be in big trouble for Mom counts every single one of her chips…she has an obsession with Pringles. She says they really go well with the Brach’s Bridge Mix…one bite of candy and a potato chip. We all have been eyeing the chip container and Maggs was finally able to reach up and knock it down from Mom’s computer desk. Thank goodness for Magg’s reaching abilities. Hurry Morgan….we don’t have much time!

December 18, 2007
Guess what? Sydney has actually discovered toys. We are so proud of him. We know he cannot see, but he still seems to find his favorite toy no matter where it is at and then takes it back to his favorite bed and shakes away. We pupsters have experimented by covering our eyes with our paws to see what Sydney faces every single day. Boy, darkness can really be scary. We surely admire him for dealing with darkness with tail wagging and prancin’ n dancin’.

December 19, 2007
MMMMMM! Auntie Nita and Unkie Jim sent us a special package today. OK, we have a feeling that this may really be for Mom and Dad, but we thought we would open it up just to make sure there wasn’t a box in here that says pupster treats. Heather is really good at undoing bows, Noodles is on the look out for Mom and the rest of us are patiently waiting until the package is open so we can pounce in and check everything out. Hey, we have spotted some sausage in there…I think we are going to lose control here!

December 20, 2007
What a fun day we had today! Auntie Nancy came to visit us. Well, she did have another reason. Our Asti will be going home with her today to join our Tinky and Cassidy. She even brought Asti her very own sweater. Her arrival was like having Santa Claus right in our midst. She had a special stocking full of goodies for us and also one for Mom and Dad. She also brought a special gift for all of us pupsters….a humidifier to help with the dryness in the air. We were very good while she was here and so enjoyed all of the cuddles and kisses she gave us. As she said goodbye to us with Asti in her arms, we all had tears in our eyes for we shall miss our little Asti.

December 21, 2007
With Christmas just around the corner, all of us pupsters send a special thank you to all of our troops serving our country and want them to know that they remain in our thoughts and prayers where ever they may be during the Holiday Season. Unkie Eric was able to come home for a short visit and Pebbles was there to meet him with lots of kisses. We surely wish all of you could be here with us for we would cover you in slurpy kisses. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that you will be coming home to us soon.
Saluting all of you,
The PATR Pupster Crew

December 22, 2007
Hey, Boomer…look at me in the bed you sent me! ‘Tis your very own Princess making her debut in the Foster Journal. OK, all, I will tell you my story. You know all about the Old English Sheep Dogs…well, because of them I also was able to come into rescue…long story. Anyway, Grannie Annie who took the Old English Sheep Dogs into her rescue sent me a picture of her Boomer…he is one handsome Shih Tzu. We really like each other so he sent me my very own special bed. He and I plan on staying in touch until I find my very own Forever Home. These are for you Boomsie…XOXOXOXO

December 23, 2007
We are totally disgusted….can you tell? Mom, if you don’t do something about Harlan shoving his way into the beds, Comet, Mirila and Paisley are going to have to take this into our own paws. He figures if he crawls on top of us we will move. Now, we know we are supposed to share, but there is only so much room in a bed you know. I think we need to set up some space and weight regulations here. We’ll schedule a meeting for tomorrow to discuss this in detail.

December 24, 2007
We have been looking forward to today…Christmas Eve you know and Santa should be coming. We don’t have a chimney, but we are going to leave the slider open so he has easy access to bring all of our goodies in. Chantelle and Adele here have the cookies all baked and the milk chilled. Aren’t our Christmas beds nice? Thank you Auntie Sandy..we love them!. We thought we would give Santa one of our beds. It may be a bit small for him, but we know the elves will love it! Now, all we have to do is put someone on guard to make sure certain pupsters do not eat Santa’s cookies and drink his milk.

December 25, 2007
Christmas day is preceded with shopping, wrapping gifts to place under the tree, lights in the windows, stockings hanging in the living room, receiving cards in the mail, snow on the ground for us Northerners, thawing the turkey, and shouts of “Merry Christmas” to all those we meet.
Christmas day arrives and all gather together. Love surrounds us and lots of hugs and kisses are shared between all we hold dear to us. This year let’s all look to God for all our needs to be met and the joy and peace you will receive will last the whole year for today is truly a day of celebration for a child was born who brought great joy to the world.
All of us here wish you a Blessed Christmas and we all hope you can feel the hugs we are sending to all.

December 26, 2007
And the goodies still keep coming in! Kelsey here guarding our last stash. Paris sent us all of these wonderful things. Cheese, crackers, sausage, Brachs Bridge Mix, chocolates, a shirt for Mom, a special quilt for Mom that Paris’ Mom made and the list goes on and on. Wait, Mom and Dad just said that these goodies were for them. Gee, we pupsters thought all of it was for us! Do you think Mom and Dad will at least share the crackers with us?

December 27, 2007
Whew, Astro here just vegging’ out with Harlan, Mirila and Paisley. Wow, the Holiday Season sure does wear we pupsters out. Just go, go, go all of the time you know. Well, we will have to admit that we really didn’t have to do too much, but just watching Mom and Dad was enough. Actually they waited on us most of the time you know. Of course then each of us that were trustworthy was assigned guard duty over the tree. There are just some that couldn’t keep their paws off from the ornaments…not mentioning any names to protect the innocent.

December 28, 2007
Mommmmm, you had better come quick! Heather and Benson are having a slight disagreement and are going nose to nose. Geez, it is always over something stupid too. They were bored today so thought they would count how many floor tile are in the living room. Benson came up with one more than Heather and now they are arguing over it. You know how stubborn Heather can be…right or wrong…she doesn’t back off. Guess you need to do a recount for them to settle this dispute.

December 29, 2007
And just what are you suggesting Haley? I haven’t been here long enough to be assigned poop patrol…Ming here is still adjusting. You are just trying to get out of your responsibilities. Noodles is here to back me up and he told me the poop is freezing so quickly it is no biggy anyway. Who would want frozen poop? Geez, Mom and Dad have to come out and chip it loose just to get it into the poop bucket. Watching them is entertainment in itself…wonder what they are mumbling under their breath?

December 30, 2007
Well, we are almost at the end of the year. Guess we’d best get rested up for New Years Eve. We have to stay up late to watch the ball drop you know. And then it takes a bit of time to go around and kiss everyone. Tomorrow we can help Mom get all of the snacks ready for company. Hopefully she will share a few crumbs with us during the preparation of those yummy food trays. Get ready for the same old lecture tomorrow…”You’d best behave when company is here.” What would ever make Mom think we wouldn’t behave?

December 31, 2007
The final day of the year for many is to look back upon all that has happened. All of us feel so blessed to have met so many new friends, found homes for so many and had the opportunity to be loved, kissed, and snuggled. As we reminisce we think of those that we loved that are not here with us to celebrate the coming year. All were loved beyond measure and as Mom and Dad say, “Whether it is for years, months, days, hours or minutes, all of us deserve to have warmth and love surrounding us.” That is what rescue is all about and that is why we are here. We know that Jangles, Carmella, Bandit, Madonna, Rafferty, Tye, Wink, Salsa, McGill, Robby and Pilar will be here with us in spirit as we bring in the New Year. They all know that we will continue to open our hearts and home to the seniors and special needs who need us so much. We wish all of you a healthy and happy New Year!
