Peke A Tzu Rescue
Foster Journal

We thought all of you out there would like to see what happens here in our home so we decided we would pop in on occasion and let you know what we are doing. Some days it is just the same old routine, but other times we have a lot of excitement. We hope you enjoy hearing about our activities and seeing a few pictures. The majority of the time you will see us happy, healthy and well groomed, but there is a significant cost involved to get each of us to this point which can be viewed at Foster Vetting Costs.

Hey everyone! We are having fun on the website this month. We have all of these wonderful pupster pictures and they are in this thing called a photo contest. I got all dressed up in my rain gear and didn’t realize as I was doing my photo contest rain dance that actually I created a downpour in Georgia and Florida. Well, they were having a dry spell you know, but not anymore! Amazing what a little enthusiastic dancing can do. Oops, got a little sidetracked there so back to the photo contest. You just have to check out some of these pupster photo entries. They are just wayyyy too cool!

We are dedicating our day to our sweet Rolex. Rolex left us for the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She was our very first Shih Tzu family member and we miss her so very much. She introduced Mom and Dad to the wonderful world of the Shih Tzu and filled our lives with so much joy. She was our matriarch and when she said move we moved! She was gentle, loving, comical and greeted all with lots of kisses and a wagging tail. Rolex welcomed all of the new pupsters as they arrived and surely understood the meaning of rescue. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we adjust to not having our Rolex by our side. She will remain forever in our hearts.

No one is going to believe this, but we have this really weird looking dog that comes and visits us just before dark. We have never seen anything like this before. She has this really weird tail and her ears just do not look right to us at all. We have determined that this is a girl…the boy pupsters had the binoculars out to verify that. Mom keeps telling us this is not a pupster, but a deer so we are calling her Deery. We still think she must be some kind of new pupster breed and Mom is just trying to pacify us so that we won’t bark so much. If any of you know what kind of dog this is would you please let us know?

June 4, 2007
Uhhh, Brady, are you really telling us the truth? This is actually a RAW chicken wing? Oh my, it looks pretty good from here so guess we’ll have to take your word for it. MMMM, on top of tasting good we’ll bet it is really good for your teeth. Do you think Auntie Jen could send us a few dozen for us to try out? Of course if we don’t like them we somehow need to talk Mom into cooking that yummy recipe. Yeh, like that’s ever going to happen. Of course we could always talk to Dad. If anyone can find a super sized crock pot it would be him!

We thought you all might enjoy knowing what settling in at night here is all about. About 8 o’clock we begin the nighty night process for five in the morning comes early you know. We all do our last trip out for potty, then belly bands and prissy pants come out. After that is all said and done Mom gets the bigger beds out for us and we dive into them like they were a gift from heaven. One thing we have learned from Mom and Dad is that we are all equal no matter what color, breed or origin we are. We all snuggle in closely and then Mom says a special prayer to all of us. We sleep the night through knowing we are safe and loved.

Rafferty here. I have a slight dilemma. You see I am getting a bit older and have aches and pains here and there. Since Mackin has been here he has been kind enough to allow me to use his tail for therapy. It is nice, soft and warm and feels so good lying up against me. His tail can give the best massage out there. I especially like the neck massage he does for me. I just do not know what I am going to do without my personal massage pupster for he will be leaving in a few days to his very own Forever Home. Maybe his Mom and Dad will allow him to pursue his pet massage career…if so I can have a standing appointment with him once a week.

June 7, 2007
Well, I have finally experienced one of Mom’s serious photo sessions and let Haden tell you in no uncertain terms that I am protesting! I absolutely refuse to cooperate nor look at the camera. Look what she has done to me? A bow in my hair, come on I am too pupstermanly for this nonsense. All of the other pupster guys are snickering at me behind their paws. Auntie Jen, are you out there? I have a feeling you had a lot to do with the decision making in this photo session. I guess the only upside to all of this is that Mom did not pick a pink or purple bow!

June 8, 2007
Whew, what an emotional day for all of us. Two of our best friends left us today to go to their Forever Homes. Apple, Applee Dapplee, as we fondly called her, isn’t too far away from us so maybe we can catch the bus to go and visit her. She was always so very nice to us and we are surely going to miss her, but we know that she has started down a new road where she will be loved beyond measure. Then our pal Mackin was off today also. What are we going to do without his big body cuddling up close to us at night? And then there was just nothing better than watching him run across the play area. We felt like we had a king within our midst for he was so regal. Hopefully we will see him for Rafferty’s massage appointments. We hope both will email and send pictures!

WOO HOO!!! It’s garage sale party time. Auntie Kakki was kind enough to have a garage sale for all of us pupsters at her house and the items were the hit of the garage sale party! Auntie Marg also had a sale at her house a while back and it was amazing how generous everyone was to us pupsters. Auntie Marg, Auntie Carol and Auntie Flo were more than happy to help Auntie Kakki with the sale. You’ve heard of the 3 musketeers, well these are the 4 pupsterteers! However, we are jealous because we couldn’t be there and Zoey just had to show off a bit to let us know she would be the pupster librarian at the sale.

June 10, 2007
What the heck do you think we are doing Comet! We are guarding the file cabinet drawer. Clint and Henna here have voted ourselves in as the pupster security guard. There are some very important papers in here. We know, because every time Mom opens the drawer and we try to grab something she gets really upset. In fact she has gotten kind of secretive about this drawer. Wish we could read and break in without her knowing because we think there might be some really “juicy” stuff in here.

June 11, 2007
Hey, everyone, listen up! Carmella came up with a super fund raising idea today. You know that lady that takes pictures of babies in there all together surrounded by flowers, veggies etc? Well, Carmella thought we could do something like this so she asked Mom to take a sample picture in the middle of one of these funny looking plants we have. You know she might have something here! We can see it now, we will all be famous pupsters posing. This could be very healthy for us…we could nibble on the veggies during the photo session.

June 12, 2007
Mmmm, does this ever feel good Kia. Your courses in paw and tongue massage are really paying off. Think you need to go a little more to the right though…no, that was a little too far…you need to go just a touch back to the left. There, now you have it! Whew, Anastasia here is feeling so much better. Once you finish your courses at the Pupster University are you going to open your own pupster massage parlor? If so make sure to leave appointments open for me!

June 13, 2007
OK, I think we have it covered now! No one can enter or exit from the ramp. Hey, where is Mom because we don’t want her to catch us doing this! A few on the front line can now go down into the play area undisturbed to check out the poop situation. The rest of us will cover the rear. On your return the next two pupsters will have their chance. This should be a successful operation as long as we don’t get caught. Hopefully those assigned to distract Mom are accomplishing their mission.

June 14, 2007
Dear Auntie Jen,
We believe you are the webmaster, correct? Well, we are filing a photo contest complaint. Melanie is the spokesperson and current unwilling model. Since this photo contest has begun, Mom has been whining because none of us are in the contest. Soooo, she heard there was going to be another one and the photo sessions we pupsters have to endure is ridiculous. Geez, just look at me…had to pose in front of this rusty ‘ol pitcher (Mom says it is an antique) and then she says “Just try to look natural”, RIGHT! We would like you to know that we are boycotting the next photo contest.
Sincerely,
The PATR Pupster Photo Contest Boycotting Committee

Frankly Mom, Mariah here could care less what kind of purses these are. The word designer means absolutely nothing to me. Coach, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Bally, Dooney & Bourke, Juicy Couture and Baby Phat…they would all taste the same to me if I had the opportunity to do a bit of chewing and I know that isn’t about to happen. Of course we pupsters have had fun cheering on the bidders on eBay, almost as much fun as going to a pupster baseball game. We came up with a new pupster theme song “Sales on eBay Keep the Pupster Bill Collectors Away.” For some reason Mom didn’t see much humor in this, but we sure thought it was catchy. We would like to thank the nice ladies that have been so generous by donating these wonderful designer items.

June 16, 2007
Dear Mom and Dad,
Auntie Jan says that I will be meeting you within the next few days and have a wonderful, loving life ahead of me. You know I have seen many pupsters leave here for their new homes and Auntie Jan says sometimes it just takes awhile to find the perfect home for us. We get all excited when an application comes in, but then she will shake her head and tell us that this just isn’t the perfect home. We trust her judgement and know we are safe and loved here. Just think, in a few days I will be the one writing emails and sending pictures of my new home to the pupsters here.
Love,
Snickers
Alias “Snicky Poo”

Sherman and Dad are on their way to the store. The rescue mobile broke down again and we are without a vehicle for a few days. Thank goodness we pupsters weren't on board when this happened. Way too hot to be broken down on the side of the road. Mom needed some milk and we needed some treats. Hopefully Sherman will pick out the right treats. Dad says the 6 mile round trip is just about right for a pupster ride. We figured Dad would have to get up about 3:00AM to get Haden and Henna to their vetting appointments tomorrow morning, but Mom said she didn’t think Dad would be too happy about bicycling that far. Both were actually relieved because they were going to have something done to their all togethers tomorrow.

June 18, 2007
Well, there is never a dull moment around here! We woke up this morning and all of these funny little tiny froggies were jumping all over the place. We didn’t know what to do with all of them. They moved so fast we couldn’t keep up with them. Some were insisting on getting through the door, but Domino was on guard keeping them at bay. First we have Deery and now this…it is plain frogmania around here. MMMM, wonder if they are going to join the rescue. If so we’d best get our name list out because this is going to take awhile.

June 19, 2007
Our sweet Snickers left us today. We kind of thought he was our permanent brother, but along came this wonderful home for him. Boy, we remember when he arrived. He was so frightened, but all of us gathered around him and let him know that all would be fine. It took us a long time to convince him that there was no need to be afraid…love surrounded him. As he began to discover the kind world around him he began to play with us a bit and suddenly he knew that Mom and Dad’s lap was a safe haven to get lots of hugs and kisses. He began to greet all who visited us with enthusiasm and it was then that we truly knew we had helped heal his soul. We love you Snicky Poo!

June 20, 2007
Henna here not looking my best. Had this thing called a spay done and then dew claws were removed from my back feet. They were all floppy you know and I could have caught them on something. Thank goodness Doc put pink bandages on me though. He is always messing with Mom…you know putting blue on the girls and pink on the boys. I am resting comfortably in my nice soft bed although Mom will not allow me to romp and play with the pupster boys. I am getting lots of extra treats while I recuperate…there is a plus. Mom says I will be good as new in a few more days. Everybody better be ready because I have lots of energy to burn off!

June 21, 2007
Wow, another goodbye. Our Magnum left for his Forever Home today. His Daddy came all the way from this place called Canada. We have never been there and Mom said it would be quite the road trip to go and see Magnum. She also said the Custom Officer’s eyes would probably pop out of their heads when all of us tried to cross over the border! Unkie Bill, Magnum’s Dad…yep, we adopted him already, has one honkin’ camera doesn’t he? We tried to get him to hide it. Could you imagine Mom with that kind of camera equipment…she would be driving us insane taking pictures. Magnum absolutely loved his Dad and doled out lots of his famous Pekey kisses. He promised he would call and email. We miss you Magnum man!

June 22, 2007
We are sure you are wondering exactly what this is all about. Well, thanks to our Auntie Judy we have our own personal garden at our back door. Dora is enjoying testing out our lettuce. All Mom and Dad have to do is step out the back door, pick some lettuce and have a fresh salad immediately. We also have another personalized garden with onions, radishes and carrots. Best idea there ever was…fresh vegetables at our pawtips without the worry of weeds and our Miss Deery invading the garden. Hey, this may be a great fund raiser! Pupster Personal Organic Garden….what do you all think?

June 23, 2007
WOO HOO!!!! Our Photo Contest ended with a BANG! Tulip Krass was the winner and will be lounging in her very own Doggy Pet Bed. Hopefully she will be willing to share with Tiki. Amy Boyd was kind enough to do our drawing and Auntie Ruth and Auntie Carlene were the winners. We pupsters are going to talk to the postman though and see if we can intercept all of these doggy beds before they reach their destination. We just figure that this will only be fair beings we weren’t allowed to participate. We think the next photo contest should be for all of us fosters and the grand prize would be as many treats as we would like for a whole year.

June 24, 2007
Suzette and Morgan here announcing something very important! We are going to have another Photo Contest and it begins on July 1st. All of our pupster friends out here will have the opportunity to increase their wardrobe significantly with Belly Bands and Prissy Pants. We can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures. We are, however, a bit confused on exactly which part of the body these are to be worn. Some of the other pupsters told us these have something to do with our all togethers. Guess we’d best visit the Gift Shop for exact wearing instructions. This definitely is not working!

June 25, 2007
Our poor GiGi! You know our Auntie Lesley makes the 911 Belly Bands for us and she is always out shopping for more fabric. She needs to quit talking to Auntie Jen…they are Joann Fabric Fanatics! Anyway, Auntie Lesley is camera crazy too. Did you know she actually had GiGi model the 911 Belly Bands? Gosh, she’s a girl…wonder if Auntie Lesley knows that. Anyway, GiGi called us and asked if we could get her Mom under control. We told her heck no! We can’t even control our Mom and the camera let alone having another obsessed photographer on our hands. We did tell her she was more than welcome to visit for a bit and we will put her in the Fabric Witness Protection Program.

June 28, 2007
Hi Everyone…sorry we missed a few days, but things have been a bit hectic. Skye here finally being able to take some time to relax with my buddy Archie. We have been busy preparing for company, taking kids to the vet, cleaning house…geez, Mom even made us sort through our toys and throw some out. Now that is one difficult decision to make you know. Kind of like giving up your favorite pair of jeans no matter how many holes are in them. Anyway, Mom has finally given us some down time to get ready for the upcoming days.

June 29, 2007
What a wonderful day we had! Auntie Kim came to visit us all the way from Florida. She is Paris’ Mom you know and he has done nothing but brag about how loving and sweet she is to him. We took advantage of all the pets and cuddles we could get from her and made sure we sent a picture to Paris to let him know he was sharing his Mom rather he liked it or not. He threatened to catch the first plane out of Florida! Little does he know that Auntie Kim is headed to Florida with our Heath and she is already in love with Heath. Paris better keep his paws crossed that Heath does not get kidnapped along the way and end up sharing Paris’ Mom with him.

June 30, 2007
Hey guys! Eat your hearts out…I have two beautiful Pekey girls accompanying me to Auntie Jen’s house AND I don’t have to share them with you. They keep telling me, “Heath you are the most handsome Pekingese boy we have ever seen.” This is just way too much fun. Of course I am not rubbing it in or anything, but no more snow for me. I talked to Auntie Jen and she said I could even lounge around the pool with the rest of the kids. See you in July guys…I’ll make sure and send you some pictures.
