Peke A Tzu Rescue
Foster Journal

We thought all of you out there would like to see what happens here in our home so we decided we would pop in on occasion and let you know what we are doing. Some days it is just the same old routine, but other times we have a lot of excitement. We hope you enjoy hearing about our activities and seeing a few pictures. The majority of the time you will see us happy, healthy and well groomed, but there is a significant cost involved to get each of us to this point which can be viewed at Foster Vetting Costs..

Here it is the beginning of the month already. All of us pupsters have decided that we must get as many dentals done as possible this month. We had heard that people get put in jail for fund raising projects so Elizabeth volunteered to go to jail and does not get out until at least 10 more of the pupsters can have their dentals. Elizabeth can be a bit difficult at times, but she was so excited to do this for we pupsters. So, here she sits, behind brass bars until our goal is met. Now, none of us would want her to remain imprisoned for long, would we? Let’s see how quickly Elizabeth can be bailed out!

BB (fka Brent) here reporting in from my Forever Home. I have a special favor to ask of you pupsters. Would you please write, call or email my Mom and let her know that this “dress up” phobia she has needs to stop! I figure if you pupsters deluge her with communication from all directions and object to me being used as a model she might listen. You have to admit that she has gone too far with this hat! How embarrassing….

March 3, 2011

Well, let me see…what do we have here? Don’t tell Mom I am investigating the cupboard. She left the door open just enough where Jake here could not resist. MMMM, baby food for those of us who need a little something special after dentals or if we have an upset tummy. Then we have canned green beans and carrots….yum, yum. We love those for treats if we run out of raw veggies. What I am really looking for are our freeze dried treats, but Mom must have them stashed elsewhere. Well, hopefully I’ll have better luck next time!

If Nougat thinks he is going to get away with this without a time out we pupsters think he is sadly mistaken. We don’t know how he did this, but he yanked the poise pad out of Noodles belly band and took off with it. Looks like he plans to make a meal of it…thank goodness Mom had just changed Noodles poise pad…that would have been really disgusting!

March 5, 2011

Phew, what a day this has been. I hired on to help Mom with her computer and paperwork. The pay is really good….six treats a day plus a bonus of one if I get all of my assigned jobs completed within an 8 hour period. Pepsi will have to admit that becoming part of the working community has been quite the experience though. I think lunch should last at least 5 hours and morning and afternoon breaks should be 1 hour each. I think I would be much more productive working just one hour a day…I won’t be so tired! I am taking next month off!

We all are just relaxing today. We had a pretty busy day yesterday, it was clean ears and eyes day. This schedule we are on is pretty demanding sometimes you know. Twila is really crashed today. She says she is just going to vedge out and watch TV. The weather is dreary and just one of those days. We are trying to talk Dad into changing the channel for something a little more pupster oriented, but he is insistent on watching the news and says we will be watching the cars go ‘round and ‘round the track again – ho hum, another exciting Sunday.

March 7, 2011

You know, I often contemplate what we would do without each other. Every day is filled with love and we all care so much about each other. Promise here, resting comfortably with my step sister Dottie. You know Dottie is blind, but she is always here for us. She teaches us so much. We know that she faces darkness every single day, but her tail is always wagging and she tells us life was made to enjoy! She assures all of us that there is a special home just waiting for us, and what Dottie says always comes true!

Well, the saga continues. Barry and Quentin are still insisting that Affey-Tzu Wrestling is going to be the in thing and will pay the vet bills for the rescue. We all got invited by their coach to witness the first official Affey-Tzu Wrestling Match. Actually it was very entertaining for us, at least a change from Animal Planet. We even got to have pop corn. We really thought that Barry and Quentin could have at least dressed up a bit for the occasion, but no they said their budget didn’t allow for any fancy duds yet. We even had to pay $1.00 per pupster to watch their ridiculous performance. We think they need to have a weight classification for frankly it is a bit lopsided weight wise. We’ll give Quentin credit though for he gave it his all. Barry won the match in the 3rd round, Quentin was down for the count of 10. All of us really think they need to come up with a new gimmick to help fund the rescue - their heart is in the right place, but this just is not going to work.

The temperatures are rising and it looks like our snow will be disappearing. The only one here that regrets seeing it go is our Precious. She loves to get out in the snow and romp and play. She spends hours trying to catch snowflakes in her mouth. We pupsters think she has a few screws loose, but we would never tell Mom that! She thinks the sun rises and sets in Precious’ you know what….

March 10, 2011

Mmmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmmm. These candles smell good enough to eat! We pupsters like them so much we decided to offer them in the Gift Shop. There are all kinds of flavors and we know all of you will love them! Just close your eyes and dream about fresh pumpkin pie, blueberries or the fragrance of lavendar and you will know what our candles will smell like when lit. We know all of you candle lovers will enjoy them.

March 11, 2011

Auntie Carleen and Auntie Judy came to visit us today. We always look forward to their visits because they spoil us rotten! We get cuddled and kissed the whole time they are here. Calla enjoyed Auntie Carleen’s attention and Joy snuggled right into Auntie Judy’s arms. Mom got spoiled too with a great big bag of Bridge Mix…her favorite. Hopefully she will share with Dad.

March 12, 2011

Wow, did we hit the bonanza today! Auntie Stephane, Unkie Mark, Fiona and Meilo went shopping just especially for all of us. They bought us bunches of new beds and we mean bunches! Unkie Mark was kind enough to drop them off because he was in our neighborhood working. There are so many we do not even have an excuse to fight over them. We’ll be sleeping in comfort for a long time to come.

March 13, 2011

Come on everyone, hurry up and figure out how to get this open. Champagne here took my life into my own hands by jumping from the chair to the counter and pushed the container to the floor to make these cheese balls accessible to everyone. The least the rest of you pupsters can do is get this thing open so we can munch away. YUM, YUM!! Mom is in the shower and we do not have much time. Shilo will only be able to hold her off for a few minutes.

March 14, 2011

Well, let’s see…what oil fragrances do we want in our shampoo today. You know Mom uses an organic shampoo base and then adds all kinds of yummy oils to the base. Boy, do we ever smell good and our coats look beautiful! She lets us pick out our favorite fragrances most of the time. The great thing is that she can make different shampoos with the oils for individual skin issues and there are no harmful additives in our shampoo. You all should try it…we love it!

Patina reporting in. As you can see Mom is really into pink and I refused to cooperate during this photo session. Geez, she keeps snapping away every time we turn around. I thought I had escaped that obsession of Mommy Jan’s, but alas, wouldn’t you know I adopted a Mom who has the same problem. I can say that is the only fault she has. My Mom is so wonderful I can’t even begin to say enough. And no, you pupsters are not coming for a visit…I refuse to share!

March 16, 2011

Hey, we have another surprise for all of you. We pupsters constantly search for items to add to the Gift Shop because we need the sales to help with our vetting, grooming and other expenses. Well, you all are going to like this new addition. They are soft cotton dishcloths and they can be used for all kinds of different things. We pupsters particularly like them during eye cleaning time. They are so soft it doesn’t bother us a bit. Please take a look at our Dishcloths. We know you would really like them.

March 17, 2011

OK Mom, we are all settled in to watch a few good movies. Do we get to pick what we want to watch or are you making the decision based on rating? Yeh, that’s what we thought…we never get to watch what we want! We‘ll go along with whatever you choose as long as we get to eat popcorn. Can’t watch movies without popcorn you know. Anyway that’s what Dad says so if it works for him it should work for us.

March 18, 2011

This sharing thing is beginning to get out of control Mom. Devas here was all nice and comfortable then along came JD and Rufus. First JD plopped his big butt down and decided to use me as a pillow and then Rufus jumps in and decides to use JD for a pillow. The unfortunate part is that I am at the bottom of the pile here. Could you please talk to these two pupsters and tell them to go find their own bed? This weight is overwhelming!

March 19, 2011

You know the world is an amazing place when you really think about it. God made sure we had the sun to keep us warm and the moon to lead us in the dark. We pupsters couldn’t wait until this evening because we knew we were going to see something very special. As we watched the moon slowly rise we were in awe. It was HUGE and so beautiful. We hope all of you took the time out of your busy day to see this magnificent act of nature.

March 28, 2011

Hi Everyone,
We are sorry we have missed you over the past days. Dad wasn’t feeling quite up to par so Mom and we pupsters had to do all of the things Dad normally does and it is a LOT!! Phew, it tuckered us right out. The worse part was Mom’s cooking, but don’t tell her we told you. She definitely won’t win any cooking awards. The good news is Dad is back to his old self and cooking up a storm!

March 29, 2011

You know many times the weatherman is wrong and we certainly wish he had been this time. He predicted ice and boy, did we ever get ice….4 inches of it. Our ramp into our play yard is like a skating rink. Mom won’t even let us use it. We asked her if she would buy us some ice skates and she just wrinkled up her nose and crossed her eyes. Geez, sometimes she has no sense of humor at all.

March 30, 2011

Ok, this is just not working. Mom we think you need to set up some pupster road rules for the doggy door. Maybe a yellow stripe down the middle would get those pupsters attention that have no manners at all. Either you stay to the left or the right, but no going down the middle. These road blocks are slowing down pupster traffic here…

March 31, 2011

Well folks here it is the end of the month already. We have all had a busy month…making sure Mom is up and out of bed at 6:00AM so that she can get the laundry started, mop the floors, get our food on…you know stuff like that. Of course we get her up to make sure she can get things done and we go back to bed keeping one eye open waiting for breakfast. Once breakfast is over we help her with the dishes and get another load of laundry in. In between we make sure she has all the poop cleaned up and treats are available for our mid morning snack. Then we all help her get emails done and take any phone calls. When this is all done it is time for dinner and away we go again. We settle in about 8:00PM and let Mom take in a little TV and finish up her emails. So goes our days and they pass so quickly. See you in April!
