Peke A Tzu Rescue
Foster Journal

We thought all of you out there would like to see what happens here in our home so we decided we would pop in on occasion and let you know what we are doing. Some days it is just the same old routine, but other times we have a lot of excitement.
Each night as we settle down and climb into bed we gather close and say a prayer for all of the pupsters that are in need.

We hope you enjoy hearing about our activities and seeing a few pictures. The majority of the time you will see us happy, healthy and well groomed, but there is a significant cost involved to get each of us to this point which can be viewed at Foster Vetting Costs..

This month marks the ninth year that we have been sharing our lives with you through the Foster Journal. We have posted prior foster journal entries to celebrate this milestone. We hope this brings back some fond memories for all who visit us regularly. Enjoy!!

Snow, snow and more snow. Never a dull moment in Michigan…yesterday we even had thunder storms! We know you southerners will not believe this, but we actually enjoy playing in this white stuff, can you tell? We get out there and roll, stick our heads in the drifts, play king on the mountain when Mom shovels it into a pile for us, and of course bring lots of white stuff in for Mom to clean up. We will have to admit that we are really beginning to look forward to spring though. We miss feeling the warm sun on our bodies, but for now we will have to be happy being little pupster snowmen.

We all decided that once a week for entertainment we would have a tug-o-pupster contest. We talked to Mom and Dad and they said they would make us popcorn for the event. Paris and Quigley were chosen for the first contest. We allowed them to pick their toy of choice. This is so much fun – we all gather around and cheer them on! Of course Mom and Dad do not know that we made a few side bets. Don’t tell anyone, but Shilo agreed to be our bookie and is taking the bets. Some of us are going to have so many treats we are not going to know what to do with them! Hope Mom and Dad do not figure out what we are up to.

March 4, 2005

You know how they have Miss America and Miss Universe pageants? Well we pupsters thought we would have a Miss Pekingese contest. All pupsters who entered the contest had to be certified by PATR. Decisions were based on singing abilities, temperament, sharing and of course pupster beauty. Elizabeth, Fantasia, Jetta, Praline, Toffee and Priscilla gave it their all, but in the end Madonna won the pageant pupster hands down. She may be a bit grumpy at times, but we all felt that she was our Miss Pekingese pageant winner and it was unanimous! She was awarded extra treats, additional lap time and more kisses and cuddles than she could have ever dreamed of.

MMMM, MMMM, MMMM! Our favorite time of the day. We can’t make up our minds if we like breakfast or dinner the best. Some of us even get breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mom says if any of us kids are really tiny we need to eat more often and even get more snacks in between. It is quite interesting during meal time here. Mom dishes out our raw food on plates on the counter as we all stand around drooling, jumping and barking. Then she calls us each by name and places our plate in front of us. We have learned not to steal anyone else’s food, but frankly by the time we get done with our own plate everyone else is done also, but there are always a few tidbits left for us to race around and clean up! We lick those plates until they shine.

March 6, 2010

Oh boy, another wrestling match! Everybody has their bets in and we are ready to roll. Shilo is keeping an eye out for Mom and Dad until the match is completed. Vibrant Vance and Juniper Jasper are our wrestlers for this match. Vibrant Vance is down for the count….one….two….three….four. Oh oh, looks like the winner is Juniper Jasper! Geez, who would have thought because he was definitely not favored. Oh well, guess we’d best start giving up our treats to the winning pupsters!

March 7, 2004

Hi everyone, sorry I haven’t visited you earlier, but I have been going through a bit of a rough time. I am not very old, but ended up with these yukky things called heartworms so had to go through these treatments. Whew, am I glad this is over – couldn’t do anything but lay around and watch everyone else having a good time. Foster Mom and Dad kept telling me to be patient, but boy, was it hard. Now, I am at least being allowed a bit of free time, but still have to behave myself until all is well again. Now, my buddy Schatzi here says it is about time for us to romp and play. Everyone has been so good to me and Schatzi has given me so much support. I am on the mend and look out world, here I come!!

March 8, 2007

MMMM, looks like there might be a remnant of something yummy here. Mom should have known better than taking a potty break while she was loading the dish washer. Hopefully Franco here can find his way out of this maze before Mom returns. Of course I can always scootch to the back and maybe she won’t see me, but then I may find myself trapped. I don’t think there is a Pomeranian cycle on this dishwasher so I should be safe.

March 9, 2009

Mommmm, Rhea here needs your help! Butler and Lorene are ganging up on me and I did absolutely nothing to deserve this. OK, so I did rush by Butler and give his tail a quick yank and then just sort of butt slapped Lorene lightly. That still is no excuse for them to treat me with disrespect like this. They are trying to tell me that this a training session for the next wrestling match. I told them I have no interest in wrestling whatsoever!

March 10, 2009

This week is Pupster Dental Awareness Week so Jake is really working those teeth. Actually he feels if he does a good job Mom won’t get the tooth brush out. Little does he realize no matter how pearly white they may be she takes great joy in brushing away. We pupsters think we need to find more for Mom to do to take her mind off from senseless chores like brushing teeth!

March 11, 2010

Oh goodie, a surprise! Auntie Miranda sent us our own flat screen monitor! Hey Dad, does that mean we get our very own “puter? You know we have been really wanting one. We promise we will play games on it and will not surf the internet. For some reason Dad, Winona here has a feeling that you aren’t going for my idea. Oh well, never hurts to try!

March 12, 2009

Wow, does it seem good to have a bit of sun once again. The temperatures are still cool, but we just cuddle together to enjoy the rays. McKenna and Janie surely are soaking it up! Geez, Mom called them for dinner and they didn’t even budge. Both looked up and told Mom they would prefer to eat a bit later. They said they wanted to take advantage of the sun as long as possible.

March 13, 2009

Caitlin reporting in. I have been told that reading is really relaxing so I thought I would check out all of Dad’s books and see what he may have that would be interesting. Actually I was looking for a few romance novels or at least some good magazines with pupster fashion tips. No go on that! Dad must really be crazy about this place called the Great Lakes. ..book after book as far as I can see. Well, guess I’d best go check out Mom’s library. I am sure she has something that will appeal to me.

March 14, 2011

Well, let’s see…what oil fragrances do we want in our shampoo today. You know Mom uses an organic shampoo base and then adds all kinds of yummy oils to the base. Boy, do we ever smell good and our coats look beautiful! She lets us pick out our favorite fragrances most of the time. The great thing is that she can make different shampoos with the oils for individual skin issues and there are no harmful additives in our shampoo. You all should try it…we love it!

March 15, 2007

Well, I thought I had the safest bed in the house under the computer desk, but we all make mistakes you know. Mom, Ritzy here does not want to hurt your feelings, but you have the ugliest feet I have ever seen. I talked it over with the other pupsters and we are all going to chip in and make a weekly pedicure appointment for you. These feet are definitely in need! Could you just do me a favor next time and powder your feet with something that smells really good before you plant them in my bed?

March 16, 2006

Honest Mom, I am not doing anything wrong! I was just telling Sydney a little story about how to deal with all of the comings and goings here And seriously, I didn’t wake him up from his nap and try to lure him out to get close to him. Yep, I know he cannot see so I thought I could be his seeing eye pupster. Now, this does not have anything to do with him being one of the most handsome Tzu boys I have ever seen! And please let’s not refer to that old saying “Whatever Lola wants Lola gets”. I have heard enough of that from the other pupsters, although there may be a bit of truth in it.

March 17, 2006

Yeh, you guys just keep laughing because you will be next! Zeke here is talking to Apollo, Andre and Snickers and you had best be listening. Mom is making me pose because she thinks I look really cool in this new cut. I will have to admit that the girl pupsters have been eyeing me more lately. Heck, the Shih Tzu and Pekey girls keep telling me I look pretty good for a Poodle boy! Hmmmm, maybe I should deter Mom from putting you other poo boys in this cut then I can have all of the attention to myself!

March 18, 2004

Oh for pete’s sake Fabian, just give me the darn kong! You look so retarded walking around half the day with it hanging out of your mouth. Woody here has been patient all day and I have been stalking you patiently waiting for you to drop it. Enough is enough, I have waited long enough and am about ready to dive in and grab it right out of your mouth. And don’t tell me to go get a different kong, I want this one! I am going to go get Mom and let her know that you won’t share and this will take care of it. You know how she says we are supposed to share – well, you are going to be in big trouble and I’ll bet you will get a time out and then I’ll get that darn kong – ha, ha.

March 19, 2007

This is pupsterdiculous! Sinatra is head over heels in love with Hope. We need to put the brakes on this relationship immediately. Every time Mom and Dad aren’t looking Sinatra and Hope are smooching and cuddling….YUK! We keep telling Sinatra that when he goes to his Forever Home he cannot take Hope with him for she has found her home with Mom and Dad. He just won’t listen to any of us. We pupsters have figured out a solution. Plan A, send Hope to Auntie Jan’s for a long visit or Plan B, get Sinatra on the first flight to Florida.

March 20, 2005

Well, folks, unfortunately we are back to the card playing again. I am sure many of you get a bit bored with this – you should be us pupsters! But, we just continue to humor everyone and try to do the best we can. Mom and Auntie Jamie are constantly calling on us for assistance. You should be here to see it yourself – a referee is definitely needed and of course we all have been taking reading lessons so that we can scan the Book of Hoyle for any discrepancies and trust us, there are a lot! We volunteered Oreo for referee of the night – doesn’t he look absolutely excited about it? Oh well, we all have to take turns and he drew the shortest pupster straw!

March 21, 2008

Geez, Sienna, you don’t need to scream in my ear…I am getting the point! I understand we are counting down the days until you go to your Forever Home. All of us pupsters realize that we only have a few days to snuggle and play with you. But, I think you are being a bit demanding in your final requests. Come on, give me a break…I am not going to give you all of my treats and I am not going to give up all of my laptime with Mom either. Now, present some reasonable requests to Caviar here and I will oblige.

March 22, 2008

Every day Dad starts this weird machine up and it eats carrots, apples, beets, parsley, and other stuff and then the machine throws it all up into a glass that Dad tells us is juice that is very, very good for he and Mom. We sure don’t think the juice looks that good…it is kind of yucky colored and we turn our backs when Mom and Dad chug a lug. We prefer the veggies raw thank you. We take turns helping Dad and today was Champagne’s turn.

March 23, 2008

Kiwi reporting in on the ongoing dance lessons that Trenton and Shane are taking. Things are not going well as you can see in the background. These boys definitely do not know what coordination is all about, They step on each others paws, they have no idea how to hold each other properly and the list goes on. I will have to give them credit for persevering though. Well, we’ll see…maybe a month down the road they will be gracefully floating across the deck.

March 24, 2006

This is absolutely ridiculous! Devin insists on going around and giving everyone kisses….yuk! Spencer was trying to be nice because Devin is such a sweet, little Yorkie fellow and he didn’t want to hurt his feelings. The rest of us are just trying to avoid him, but he is quick on his feet and fast with that tongue. We told Mom she needed to do something about it, but she just smiles and thinks it is really cute. We told her then she needs to carry him around and he can bestow all of his sweet kisses on her face instead of ours!

March 25, 2004

Rain, rain, rain, thunder, thunder, thunder, lightening, lightening, lightening, that’s all we have heard and seen for three days. We are getting totally bored, can’t play outside, have to stare at the walls all day long. TV is boring us, we have run out of any good books or magazines to read and have now resorted to tormenting Mom and Dad. Anything to get their attention and break the monotony. Rockie knows how to open cupboards so he has been getting into everything, Shilo won’t stay out of the bath tub, Rhett and Terra have seriously been trying to chew up a rug, Kambria has taken to shaking and pulling the body pillows all over the house, Snuggles and Saucy have been playing Super Man, flying through the air between couches and of course some of us are definitely not going out in that rain to potty so the mop has been busy. Fritz is a good example of how bored we are, just sitting around doing nothing, Ho Hum!!

March 26, 2011

Mom, Candice and Nougat need to talk to you about Mason. Is there something you can do to slow him down a bit? We were all settled in for the night and here he is pouncing at us ready to play! He just doesn’t seem to get the routine around here. It is after 9, all of us are snuggled up next to each other and then the “Mason Volcano” erupts! Now, it is all fine and pupster dandy during the day, but we do need to get our beauty rest you know. You need to address this situation as soon as possible or we may have to take into our own pupster paws.

March 27, 2004

All the pupsters said it was my turn to be in the Foster Journal. I am really getting comfortable here – learning to “hang out” just like everyone else. I may not be able to see, but by gosh, I am learning my way around already! I know where the door is to go outside already, can find the water dish in a second and have found all the soft, cushy spots to relax on. Of course, I will have to say, that all of the pupsters here have been a big help. They have been so very patient with me. Mom and Dad talk in a very soft voice and keep saying “Carmella, we know you can do this, just follow our voice and our scent.” Wow, it really works and I reward them with my tail wagging and slurpy kisses. There are definitely advantages to being blind – lots of special attention, hugs and treats.

March 28, 2006

You know Joelle, I do not know why you are having such a problem with this. I have to go through this twice a day. I try to hide out when Mom says “Pebbles, it is time for your water therapy!” I have not been successful in avoiding her though. I think it is only fair that someone should share this experience with me and guess what? I chose you, don’t you feel privileged? Instead of being so difficult about this, you should look at this as a bonding experience for us. Come on, get tough, be a big girl and start treading water…it really is good for you!

March 29, 2005

So, Shilo, what would you like to do for entertainment today? I think we need to assign someone to get things a bit better organized around here. How about me? I can see my title now – Praline the official PATR Activity Director – I just love titles! Let’s see – we could have a contest to see who can sit up the longest for a treat; who can throw the tennis ball the furthest and a tug of war contest. Then we could set up teams and see which team can get the most pupsters in one doggy bed, that should be interesting. And how about a relay race, the winning team gets a trip to the pet store and can pick out anything they want. And the Big Event of the day will be the Poop Eating Contest – we’ll organize teams, hide Mom’s poop bucket and away we will go. (Just kidding Mom, honest).

March 30, 2007

Well, everyone, Pascal and Brach here enjoying our last day in the Michigan sun. We will be traveling to Florida by motor home and are looking forward to meeting our Mom and Dad. Mom gave us soooo many lectures about being good on the trip. We have no idea what would make her think we would be anything but absolute angels! We will update you with pictures of our traveling adventure in April. Look out Florida….here we come!

March 31, 2012

Ummm, it's not that we pupsters don't love Rowdy for he has been so through much in his young life already having his eye removed, but we were just wondering when he will be going up for adoption. Not rushing you now Mom, but you will have to admit that he does create, shall we say a bit of commotion in our lives? We know he has his appointment in April for you know what for he will be 6 months old. Maybe that will slow him down a bit, what do you think?
