Peke A Tzu Rescue
Foster Journal

We thought all of you out there would like to see what happens here in our home so we decided we would pop in on occasion and let you know what we are doing. Some days it is just the same old routine, but other times we have a lot of excitement. We hope you enjoy hearing about our activities and seeing a few pictures. The majority of the time you will see us happy, healthy and well groomed, but there is a significant cost involved to get each of us to this point which can be viewed at Foster Vetting Costs..

March 1, 2010

Welcome to March everyone! We pupsters are gearing up for Spring. We have had a few days of sun and talk about being revitalized! We are getting ready for the “Wrestling Season”, but don’t tell Mom! We are in serious training now, a little weight lifting, pushups and situps. We are hoping to draw more foster journal fans this year for our bouts. We just wish Mom would be more receptive to the sport for then we could probably talk her into some really neat uniforms. We’ll work on her this season and see if we cannot get her to come around to our way of thinking.

March 2, 2010

Mom, please don’t tell the rest of the guys Santo is doing this because they will make fun of me. I just can’t help it. I just can’t kick this obsession I have and your finger surely is much better than those pacifiers I see hanging out of baby’s mouths. I know I can kick this dependency eventually, but for right now Mom, thank you for understanding my needs and being here for me.

March 3, 2010

Yoo Hoo, Tianna could you just pay attention for a few minutes please? You have been napping most of the day. Promise here needs someone to talk to. I can’t talk to Mom about this for she wouldn’t really understand. You know I am really in love with Bishop. Yeh, I know he is a Shih Tzu, but I just can’t help myself. Well, he just doesn’t seem to have any interest in me so I was wondering if you could give me some advice for all the boys seem to really like you. Maybe I need to change my hair color or my hair do.

March 4, 2010

What do you mean I am screaming???? Geez, Mom, give Claire a break…sometimes it takes a bit of vocalizing to get your attention! Marco is so laid back that he will not express his opinion. Someone…not mentioning any names, is deliberately blocking the doggy door so that no one has access to getting outside. That “someone” is thoroughly enjoying themselves. Let me give you a hint…white, male, and a poop eater. I see recognition in your eyes…must have been the poop eater hint!

March 5, 2010

Mom, I do not have a smirk on my face! I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. No, it was not Haley here that created the disagreement a few minutes ago. I would never intentionally tell any of the other pupsters what to do, push them off their bed, steal their toy or give them a butt slap. It surely had to be someone else. Why don’t you check with Noodles? You know he can really have an attitude sometimes.

March 6, 2010

One ringy dingy, two ringy dingy…you Michigan pupsters better pick up the phone! Tiki here reporting in from Florida. I want to have a nice long talk with all of you. Here it is March, I have my jacket on….snuggled in my nice soft bed and we are FREEZING here! I have a suspicious feeling that you all had something to do with this. Sure wish Mom would turn on the heat!

March 7, 2010

Hey, do you recognize us? We are the kids from Kentucky that got a ride in our own personal airplane! We just wanted to check in and let you know we are both doing well. It has been quite the adventure for us, but we have settled in, visited Doc and are just enjoying life to the fullest. Tommie thinks he is Mr. Macho and lifts on everything in sight. Sarah here has told him that is a no no, but I guess he just loves to wear a belly band…says he thinks he looks cool. Geesh, men sometimes!

March 8, 2010

Yoo Hoo….Mom are you looking at me? I am getting tired of you smooching all over Cadbury and Nougat. Telling Cadbury he is your little chocolate man and carrying Nougat around saying you just love his little liver lips. Well, Cocoa here thinks I deserve the same treatment. How can you resist me? Just look at this face!

March 9, 2010

OK Arpel, are you ready for the race to the finish? Lana here will teach you what it is all about. You need to start moving a little faster. I can zip in and out of any area so fast that it makes Mom and Dad’s heads spin. Just crouch down a bit, rev your engine and be ready for the first opportunity that comes your way. When those gates open, you need to have the pupster pedal to the floor…just make sure it doesn’t stick though!

March 10, 2010

Mom, why are you looking at us like that? We have been over here laying quietly for quite some time. There is no way that either of us would jump up on the table, grab Dahlia’s panties before you had time to put them on her and tear up the Poise pad. YUK, why would we want to do that? And we were not the ones that chewed on the door molding either just in case that thought had crossed your mind.

March 11, 2010

Oh goodie, a surprise! Auntie Miranda sent us our own flat screen monitor! Hey Dad, does that mean we get our very own “puter? You know we have been really wanting one. We promise we will play games on it and will not surf the internet. For some reason Dad, Winona here has a feeling that you aren’t going for my idea. Oh well, never hurts to try!

March 12, 2010

Mom, we need to have a talk with you. This is really beginning to get a bit disgusting. We know you put Lessie on a diet, but she still takes up one quarter of our bigger beds. Geez, just look at her! And this is before she really spreads out! Of course, looking on the brighter side of things at least she isn’t a Saint Bernard! Oh wait, we shouldn’t have said that…don’t even go there Mom!

March 13, 2010

Well, Mom got a new steam cleaner for the floors and she just thinks it is the best thing since ice cream was invented. We are here to tell you that someone needs to get her under control. We have to vacate the area when she is running this crazy thing and it totally disrupts us. Of course we will have to admit that it is better than seeing her scooching around the floor on her butt with a toothbrush in hand when she can’t get all of the dirt out of small indentations with the mop!

March 14, 2010

OK, let’s discuss this issue very quietly just between the three of us. Hopefully Mom won’t catch us because she insists whispering in front of others is very impolite. Mitch here will go first, Temple I think you should be the one to go second and Pappy you follow him. If we have planned our strategy correctly we will be successful infiltrating the snack drawer, emptying its’ contents and transferring all snacks to our pupster warehouse.

March 15, 2010

MMMM, MMMM, MMMM! Our favorite time of the day. We can’t make up our minds if we like breakfast or dinner the best. Some of us even get breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mom says if any of us kids are really tiny we need to eat more often and even get more snacks in between. It is quite interesting during meal time here. Mom dishes out our raw food on plates on the counter as we all stand around drooling, jumping and barking. Then she calls us each by name and places our plate in front of us. We have learned not to steal anyone else’s food, but frankly by the time we get done with our own plate everyone else is done also, but there are always a few tidbits left for us to race around and clean up! We lick those plates until they shine.

March 16, 2010

We pupsters are so excited! We have been wanting to do something to help pay our vetting bills, food and other necessities. You know, kind of pay our own way and prove that we can be financially responsible. So, we came up with a plan. We have opened our own little bargain shop with the help of all of you. We sent a plea out and asked for donations and as always those that love us were right there to help us begin our financial venture. We have lots of goodies here that you all have sent us and when we pupsters have time to get pictures we will begin adding more items to our shop. Some people just sent us pictures with descriptions and are going to ship from their own home. We are hoping to make enough that there may be a bit left over to invest. We were leaning towards the stock market, but we think now gold may be our best investment!

March 17, 2010

Must have just been the “luck of the draw” for Starlene…tee hee! When Mom came out with this hat and said isn’t this cute those of us that knew what she was up to turned tail and ran. Not Starlene, however. Mom conjoled her into a photo session. We’ll bet she doesn’t make that mistake again although we will have to admit she looks pretty good in green.

Happy St Patrick’s Day to all!

March 18, 2010

This really nice lady makes these blankets for us and we got a brand new box today. We did have a few disagreements over who got what, but Lizzy jumped right in and let us know she would be the one to pick and choose who got what. She said that would eliminate a lot of disagreements. She was so silly, we had to cover our eyes with our paws and she then handed us a blanket. Actually it worked out pretty well…we all are very happy with her choices.

March 19, 2010

All of us girl pupsters told Allie not to do this, but she absolutely insisted. She said it was about time for us to stand up to the boy pupsters and give them the same thing they give us. We girls are just plain tired of them showing their all together so guys take a look at this! Now, maybe you will think twice about displaying yourselves inappropriately in front of us girls.

March 20, 2010

I would like all of your opinions please. The pupsters keep accusing me of being “stuck up” and Lily here totally disagrees with them. Now does my face look like it is anything but sincere and open? And I know you can all see the halo shining brightly over my head, right? I have no idea why all are viewing me in this light for I am a sharing, loving little girl with the other pupsters….anyway I try to be on occasion!

March 21, 2010

Mom, I would like to talk to you about the toy situation. Now, when I am playing I treat every toy with respect. There are other pupsters that have an obsession with destroying these dear little toys. I have tried to talk to them about this, but they just say “Sydney, the toys aren’t real so they have no feeling.” Well, I believe that everything that surrounds me has feeling and should be treated with love. I told all of the pupsters I would be glad to hold a class on “Loving All That Surrounds You”. What do you think?

March 22, 2010

Oh boy, another wrestling match! Everybody has their bets in and we are ready to roll. Shilo is keeping an eye out for Mom and Dad until the match is completed. Vibrant Vance and Juniper Jasper are our wrestlers for this match. Vibrant Vance is down for the count….one….two….three….four. Oh oh, looks like the winner is Juniper Jasper! Geez, who would have thought because he was definitely not favored. Oh well, guess we’d best start giving up our treats to the winning pupsters!

March 23, 2010

So, what do all of you think about my smile? I have been practicing and practicing. You see I kind of got in trouble earlier today….tried to nip one of my Aunties on the ankle. So I know that Mom is eventually going to sit down and have a really serious talk with me. I thought if I looked up at her soulfully, and bestowed my sweet smile on her I might avoid a serious time out. Hope she never catches on to Shilo here being the lookout for the wrestling matches though. I would be in double trouble then!

March 24, 2010

Our drawers are overflowing with belly bands! We pupsters have depended on belly band sales since Mom and Dad started the rescue in 2003 to feed and help with our vetting. Because of Mom and Dad’s love for the seniors and special needs our expenses far exceed many other rescues.
Prior volunteers have chosen to sell belly bands and undercut our prices for personal gain and our belly band income has decreased immensely. We pupsters cannot understand this. We thought anyone who had met us would love us forever.
Mom has been crying endlessly for within the past days three senior special needs dogs went to their death because we could not afford to help them.
Mom had to slash our belly prices by 40% in order to be competitive so we pupsters would possibly see some income. This saddens all of us for babies such as our foster brother Spud's Story may never have a chance to enjoy life and find out what love is really all about.
Please help us by purchasing our belly bands and let others know. We told Mom not to worry…all we have to do is double our sales and we’ll be back in good financial shape in no time although our seamstresses may be seeing belly bands in their dreams!

March 25, 2010

Oh, for pupsters sake Shania…give it a rest. You are never going to sound like your namesake. Twain here has had just about enough of this. If you insist on continuing in this direction I am going to have to talk to Mom about voice lessons for you. I doubt that it is going to work, but then you never know. Maybe the voice teacher can turn your howling into something that is more palatable to the ears. If that happens I can see the record label now…..”Pupster Howlin’ Good Time”.

March 26, 2010

We have had a very busy day today and that means bring on the water! You know all this running and playing really makes us thirsty. Our water bottles are always full. That is one of Dad’s chores and he is always Johnny on the spot to make sure that our water is always clean and cool. He is also great at changing the mop buckets and making sure Mom eats healthy by fixing all of the meals. But we pupsters think his biggest talent is giving us wonderful belly rubs.

March 27, 2010

Mom honest, I had nothing to do with Dad’s speaker wires for the computer getting chewed apart. It had to have been Coconut because Champagne here would never consider putting anything in my mouth with the exception of my favorite toy and you know I never have chewed that up! Besides Dad must have not listened to your advice….doggy proof everything is the rule around here! You know how he left the toilet paper dangling just a little too low that day? You would think he’d learn.

March 28, 2010

Is the laundry done yet Mom? Harlan and Angie here are getting rather uncomfortable laying on these blankets instead of our soft plushy beds. We think you need to have a talk with the “pee pee” perpetrators who continue to do their deed. I think they should have to wear belly bands. At least then we wouldn’t have to go through this agony for a few hours. We are suffering from “cushy bed syndrome” here you know!

March 29, 2010

Mom, Marco and Bishop here need to have a serious conversation with you. Today was Julian and Macy’s turn to take care of poop control. Well, they must have gone AWOL for things have not been pleasant. We had to finally block the ramp into the play area to prevent those that have a tendency to be attracted to poop until you could come to the rescue with your pooper scooper. We need to buy some stock in breath mints!

March 30, 2010

We pupsters have some very sad news. Our Ginger left today for the Rainbow Bridge. She blessed us with her presence in September of 2008, but was diagnosed with a cancerous growth on her pharynx which was inoperable. Ginger was 12 years old and had known nothing but breeding. She filled our lives with joy and we miss her so. Our Ginger was quite the little comic. Although she could see very little it always seemed like she was getting into mischief. How she found the mop bucket is beyond us!

And then she would drag the toys into her own bed and let us know that they were definitely in her possession. We shall miss our sweet sister, but we made sure that she enjoyed life to the fullest while with us. Rest well, our dear friend.

March 31, 2010

Hi everyone. Barney and Spencer reporting in. Once a month Mom, Dad and all of we pupsters sit down and discuss all of the good things that are going on in our lives. We firmly believe that we need to remind ourselves frequently about how good life really is. With everything that is going on around us in today’s world it is sometimes very difficult to keep a positive attitude. We support and love each other very much and these monthly sessions are very healthy for all of us. You all should try it…sure does open your eyes!
See you in April!!
